COVID-Destination Wedding- Charleston

It's no secret that COVID has been a huge thorn in the wedding industry this year. Forcing couples to change their wedding, cancel their wedding, elope, or go against the grain and keep everything as planned. But at the end of the day, the goal is to walk away married. Big party, small party, or no party. It's the love between two humans that we are choosing to celebrate. The kind of love that we are promising for forever.

Being a part of Katey + Justin's destination wedding in Charleston is what dreams are made of. It was practically perfect in every way. The country club is so elegant and setup with the sweetest touches. Every detail that went into this wedding was strategically and purposefully planned. The hours of planning, picture taking, video capturing, and audio recording were all meeting at one perfect place under a huge oak tree to be sealed with a kiss of forever.

The ceremony was set to take place outdoors under a breathtaking oak tree. One that was filled to the brim with Spanish moss. Moss so big that the slightest breeze would catapult it into a transcendent dance. A dance so perfect you could watch it for hours. Under this moss laid a perfect stone path that created the most serene of altars. Completely untouched with fake decor, but yet so elegant and crisp. The aisle was lined with white folded chairs that would perfectly seat dearly loved friends and family.

And ... then it rained. And I do not mean it sprinkled for a few minutes. I mean the heavens opened up and the rain poured down and there was no end in sight. Every minute that went into planning that perfectly detailed ceremony washed away with the downpour. There would be no gorgeous ceremony pictures under the breathtaking Spanish moss; with the sun leaking through the cracks of the branches creating show-stopping-sun-flares at just the right moment. No. Instead, the ceremony was in a dark area, without seats, without an altar, and with a makeshift aisle created by guests lined up.

This ceremony didn't go as planned, but man did the couple adapt and overcome. Multiple times you'd hear sweet Katey proclaiming, "Everything happens for a reason! Lets' make the best of this rain!"

2020 has been an unforgettable year, as it's most famous for not going as planned. We can choose to throw ourselves a pity party and wallow in that self-pity, or we can bustle our dresses and learn to dance in the rain, like Katey.
